Luther and Karen Garcia
Fifty years of marriage is being celebrated by Luther and Karen Garcia.
Luther and Karen Garcia were joined in marriage Feb. 6, 1971, in Albuquerque.
The lifelong Albuquerque residents met while attending the University of New Mexico.
Luther is a Vietnam veteran. He retired after 36 years as an educator with Albuquerque Public Schools. He also worked 24 summers with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 492.
Karen retired from Albuquerque Public schools as an educator.
Luther enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, sports, exercising and working on home projects.
Karen enjoys cooking, baking, sewing, arts and crafts, gardening, morning walks with her dog and philanthropic work with her sorority.
Both enjoy spending as much time with friends and family as possible.
They have two daughters, Elisa and her husband, Matthew Chavez; and Elreena Garcia.
