John and Ilona Chavez
John and Ilona Chavez are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
John Chavez and the former Ilona Janousch were united in matrimony Jan. 23, 1971, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Albuquerque.
John retired from Lovelace Health System where he worked as director of charge services.
Ilona retired from Albuquerque Public Schools where she worked as an educational assistant.
Their children are Melanie McLaughlin and her husband, Paul; Lisa Chavez and her wife, Christine; and Christopher Chavez. They have seven grandchildren.
John and Ilona will take a trip to Germany in the future.
