Lobo runners return, win

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — In its first race since Nov. 15, 2019, the University of New Mexico men’s cross country team took first place at the Silver State Collegiate Cross Country Challenge with four runners finishing in the top 10.

UNM went 1-2 with sophomore Abdirizak Ibrahim in first at 23 minutes, 58.9 seconds, and redshirt-sophomore Nehemiah Cionelo in second place at 24:23.0. UNM junior Reece Donihi was sixth in 24:25.3. Senior lolo Hughes was the fourth Lobo and ninth overall in 24:41.0.

The Lobos will race Feb. 19 at the USATF Nevada Desert Classic in Las Vegas. The Mountain West Championsh­ips are March 5, also in Las Vegas.
