Maintenance worker stabbed in neck, side; suspect apprehended

-

Two apartment maintenance workers were able to fight off a man who attacked them with a knife Thursday morning near Downtown Albuquerque.

Police said the alleged assailant, Jayden Cloud, was apprehended, but not before stabbing one person in the neck and side.

Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Gilbert Gallegos initially reported around 11 a.m. that police were investigating a stabbing.

In an afternoon update, he said Cloud attacked two grounds maintenance workers outside apartments at 901 Park SW.

“The suspect was armed with a large, 10-inch blade hunting knife,” Gallegos said. “The two victims were able to fend off the attack using rake handles. A bystander was able to tackle the offender to the ground, but one of the victims was stabbed in the neck and side by the offender.”

The person stabbed was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Cloud was arrested at the scene, police said.
