-

Albuquerque police announced an arrest Friday in the fatal stabbing of a man outside a gas station in late December.

Samson Traub, 22, was booked into jail Friday on an open count of murder in the death of Carlos Montano. It was unclear from court records whether Traub has an attorney.

According to a criminal complaint, witnesses told police that Montano robbed a gas station in the 5500 block of Alameda NE armed with a hatchet in the early morning of Dec. 27. Two men, Traub and a driver, witnessed the robbery, and soon afterward saw Montano at a different gas station in the 5000 block of Jefferson NE.

A witness told police that Traub and Montano got into a fight in the parking lot, and Traub stabbed Montano multiple times, according to the complaint. He died at the scene.
