MASTERS AT LOVING SHARE THEIR WISDOM
Readers share their secrets to relationship longevity
With Valentine’s Day a week away, we asked our readers to share their stories of longlasting love. And did they deliver. We asked for tales of romance that have lasted 25 years or more and got dozens; a few couples are still going strong after 60-plus years.
Their secrets of success run the gamut — from communication to humor to faith to compromise and more — with a good dose of luck thrown in.
None of our readers claimed a full-time paradise with no bumps in the road but all described a commitment to their partner and to their relationship.
We pulled four couples’ names out of a hat to receive a Valentine’s package from Buffett’s Candies. They are: Alfred and Barbara Grant, married 66 years; Ronnie and Kathryn Roberts, 64 years; Joe and Georgia Gonzales, 57 years; and Charles and Christine Swayden, 51 years.
Our thanks to the many readers who responded. We’d like to share their stories, for inspiration and, let’s be honest, with a dose of envy.
