"Mike" (Harris M.) Griffin

The good word: “Jesus is Lord.” “Mike” (Harris M) Griffin entered peacefully into eternity late January 2021. Mike was born in March 1938 in Edgerton, Minnesota in the house his father built. He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, sister Virginia, and brother Gerald. He is survived by his sister Vivian Malcolmson , son M.J. Griffin, and daughter Lisa Quintana; stepdaught­er Anne Aberle, stepson Dave Aley, eight grandchild­ren and one great grandson.

In his youth, he played brass in his family band, a community band, and high school band in Minnesota. Mike served in the Army; during his service, he played “Taps” for Veteran funerals in Arlington National Cemetery and the surroundin­g area. He was active in multiple church choirs over his life and had a wonderful baritone voice. Mike earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree for his education.

He really enjoyed fishing, having grown up with Chanarambe­e Creek running through the family farm. He traveled New Mexico for 20 years as a salesman/ customer engineer and most work trips would end with him enjoying one of New Mexico’s many fishing spots. He enjoyed woodworkin­g and was a longtime member of the Brotherhoo­d of St. Andrew.

He was working as Sexton at St. Mark’s on the Mesa Episcopal Church when he met and married Phyllis Quick in 2002. He retired in 2003 and they became active at St. Luke Lutheran Church. In 2010, he and Phyllis joined the Master Gardener program, which Mike continued to participat­e in after Phyllis’ death in 2012. Mike continued to deepen his faith in Christ throughout his life with study groups and prayers.

Mike is missed and mourned by his family and friends.
