-

On Thursday, January 28, 2021, Hamid Fakhrai, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 67. Hamid was born on July 14, 1953, in Tehran,

Iran, the youngest of eight. He immigrated to the US in 1973 and graduated from Sacramento State in 1981, both as a fluent English speaker and an Electrical Engineer. Hamid began his career of more than three decades as an engineer in the semiconductor industry at IBM, before transitioning to Intel. He became a US citizen in 1984, the same year he and his wife, Susan, welcomed their first child into the family. In 1987 their second child was born and the family moved to Albuquerque,

where Hamid continued his career at Intel’s Rio Rancho plant. Hamid was best characterized by his big smile and quick wit. He was an attentive and caring father and husband at home, while maintaining a keen and focused mind at work. Hamid was highly athletic, spending much of his free time on two wheels or two skis; whether pedaling up and down the Sandias, or maximizing the vertical on a long day skiing at Taos, Hamid cherished his time spent outdoors and was always eager to have some company, if they could keep up with him. Hamid is survived by his wife Susan, his two children, Leila and Reza, and five siblings.
