John Charzuk Jr.

-

John Charzuk Jr. born April 20, 1947 in Bronx, New York passed February 1, 2021.

He was raised by his mother, Stella Charzuk. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Charzuk and endearing son, Stephen Charzuk and wife, Ashley Charzuk; two grandchildren, Parker Doyle (11) and John Charzuk (2). John was a beloved member of his community and a great leader in the gymnastics community of Albuquerque. As a UNM Hall of Famer, John used his knowledge of the sport to build up and improve the community around him as a teacher, coach, mentor, father and husband. Not only did John teach gymnastics, but also taught his community how to love and care for one another. He mentored so many students and adults, providing wisdom and guidance to his community that he was able to bless every soul he met. His loss will be felt across the world and the gymnastics community especially, as many of his students, athletes and proteges will take time to remember the man who inspired us to be our best. John was also an avid baseball fan and being from the Bronx an unquestionably loyal Yankee’s fan. Through his love of sports John was able to inspire those around him to do their best, to push themselves, and to support each other through the journey to improve yourself and your community. So when the Jazz music kicks up, and the crack of a baseball bat can be heard the one thing John would like you to remember is to always… “Think good Yankee Thoughts!” In lieu of flowers please make a donation in honor of John to the Special Olympics.
