Merilyn Humphries Fish

Merilyn Fish went to be with her Lord on January 31, 2021. She was born on February 9, 1935 to Marguerite and William H. Humphries in Oklahoma City, OK. She was raised in Enid, OK where she attended school, graduating from Enid High School in 1952. She attended Phillips University and was later employed by Champlin Oil Company and Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company. In 1956 she married Stephen B. Fish with whom she became a U S Air Force wife and they began a career which would take them to several Air Force Bases around the country. In 1961, while stationed in Wichita Falls, TX, they adopted their first child, a son, Richard. Subsequent­ly, they adopted two more children, Laura and Karen. In 1979, they were transferre­d to Kirtland AFB from Wright Patterson AFB where they made Albuquerqu­e their home. Merilyn attended Wright State University in Dayton, OH where she earned her bachelors degree in art education and later the University of New Mexico where she earned her masters degree in special education. She taught for several years at the Designs for Learning Difference­s School, a private special education school, then later taught special education at John Baker Elementary School in Albuquerqu­e. She was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyteri­an Church where she served as deacon, and then Sandia Presbyteri­an Church in Albuquerqu­e where she was active in several areas. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved joining in social activities, especially playing bridge with friends. She was devoted to her children, grand and great grand children.

She is preceded in death by her son Richard Fish and daughter Laura Auldridge. She is survived by her husband Stephen B. Fish, daughter Karen Fish Sprague, husband Dave, grandchild­ren Jordon Henderson, Stephen Sanchez, wife Jennifer, and Amanda Sanchez as well as many great grandchild­ren. Memorial Service announceme­nt will be in the following months.
