Put partner’s needs above your own
We met in October 1970 when I was 19 and Ruthie was 17. We were very young, and had an instant attraction to each other. As we got to know each other, we realized we had something in common. Both our birthdays are Oct. 5.
We began dating and the following summer we were married. We will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary June 12th.
We think the secret of our successful marriage is to always put the spouse/partner’s needs above your own. Also, don’t be afraid to say I’m sorry and please forgive me when you are in the wrong. This only works if both partners think this way. Also, our faith in Jesus Christ is paramount in our lasting relationship.
This poem to Ruthie last Valentine’s Day.
I was young and shy when I first saw her
She was beautiful that’s for sure I got up the courage to ask her for a date
49 years later and she’s still my mate
God has blessed me with my wonderful wife
I’m so happy she’s the love of my life
So what I’m giving you is not from a store or a cart
But something that’s straight from my heart.
Happy Valentine’s Day Beautiful
P.S. I appreciate and adore you.
I love you now and forever.
