Communication is key
I was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey when my supervisor walked up to me and said, “I just met your future husband.” That was the day I met Jim.
We dated for over a year so when I received orders to South Korea we got engaged. After
I left in June, he requested an assignment to Korea. We were fortunate to get the same Air Force base so he joined me in November.
We flew to Hawaii and were married on Waikiki Beach at sunset, Valentine’s Day, 1986. This year we will celebrate 35 years together.
We spent eight years in Colorado Springs and the last 26 in Albuquerque. We recently moved into our “forever” home where we enjoy spending time with our daughter, sonin-law, beautiful 3-year-old granddaughter and four dogs.
Communication is the key to any relationship that gets you through the occasional rough spot and the realization that you won’t change your partner nor should you try. Accept each other for who they are when you marry and for the inevitable changes to come throughout your life together.
