SF ANIMAL SHELTER & HUMANE SOCIETY

Valentine’s Day is just a week away, so are you looking for a special furry Valentine? Santa Fe’s no-kill shelter has many wonderful cats, dogs and other critters looking for a warm and loving forever home.

Meet Minnie! This cutie is a 2-year-old mixed breed who currently weighs 60 pounds. With our transfer program, Minnie came to the shelter back in August from another shelter in the state. She is playful, sweet and loves to meet other dogs, so if you have one at home please make sure you bring them in to to meet Minnie, too. This delightful gal has been waiting almost 6 months for her second chance in life. Can you help her?

Meet Jerry, a sweet and very handsome, buffcolored guy.

Jerry is 3 years old and weighs about 13 pounds. He enjoys posing for close-ups and came to our shelter as a stray. He is getting accustomed to life here in the shelter and has really come out of his shell. Now, he readily approaches people to seek attention, but he does get aroused by touch, so we recommend going at his pace.

If you would like to meet Minnie or Jerry, or any other animals available for adoption, call the adoptions

team at 505-983-4309 ext. 1610 or email the staff at Adoption@ SFHumaneSociety.org to schedule an appointment.

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter is located at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours during the pandemic are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily and are by appointment only. View updated COVID-19 shelter policies at SFHumaneSociety. org. You can also follow the shelter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Do you have a cute pet photo and want to help out with senior animals in need? The Santa Fe Animal Shelter is hosting a “Love Above All Valentine’s Pet Photo Contest” to raise money for its cause. If you want to participate, submit your best photo of your companion pet, set a personal fundraising goal, and collect votes for your chance to win. Some prizes up for grabs include jewelry from Kendra Scott, a $250 gift card for Target, six online training classes for your dog, a $100 gift card to Thaw Animal Hospital, shelter hoodies, t-shirts and more! All funds raised during the photo contest will go toward medical care, nutritious food and mental enrichment for the homeless senior animals in the shelter’s care until they find a loving home. ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

Are you looking for a Valentine this year? Perhaps you should consider a new cat or dog. Pets offer plenty of unconditional love and perhaps you might find that special Valentine at Española Humane.

Will you be Besos’ Valentine?

Besos truly lives up to her name, which means “kisses” in Spanish. This smilin’ 3-year-old sweetpea has been living with a foster family, and they have nothing but praise for her: house and leash trained, loves kids and other pets, cozy and snuggly when she’s inside, but has pizzazz and a playful zest for life when it’s time to play outside!

Edward is 10 months old with the most adorably plaintive face and excellent ear tufts. He’s curious and cute, social and sweet! Edward is available for adoption with a $30 fee, and he goes home neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed.

Española Humane is located at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. Because of COVID-19, the shelter is currently closed to the public and is offering adoptions by appointment only. Submit an application for either of these pets, or see more adoptable pets by visiting the shelter’s website at www.espanolahumane. org or www.petango. com/espanola. For more information, call 505-753-8662.

In other news, the shelter is sponsoring a Valentine’s Daythemed online auction that aims to add dazzle, romance and excitement to everyone’s lives while supporting the work of Española Humane. The auction runs through Feb. 13 and features weekend getaways, one-of-a-kind art and jewelry, and unique experiences.
