Health Department reports lowest daily virus case count since October

13 new deaths in NM raise statewide total to 3,399

New Mexico on Sunday reported its lowest daily COVID-19 case count in nearly four months.

The state Department of Health announced 349 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest number reported in a day since the state recorded 259 cases on Oct. 11.

Bernalillo County had 98 cases, Doña Ana County had 51, and Otero and San Juan counties had 24 each.

The state also reported 13 deaths, bringing the statewide death toll to 3,399. Those whose deaths were reported Sunday were:

■ Two people, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 80s, with underlying health conditions from Bernalillo County.

■ A woman in her 90s from Grant County who had underlying conditions.

■ A woman in her 80s from Lea County who had underlying conditions.

■ A woman in her 80s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

■ A woman in her 70s from Sandoval County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

■ Four people, including a woman in her 20s with underlying conditions, from San Juan County.

■ A man in his 70s from Santa Fe County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

■ A man in his 80s from Valencia County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

■ A man in his 70s who was an inmate at the Lea County Correctional Facility and was hospitalized.

As of Sunday, 403 people were hospitalized in the state with the disease. New Mexico has had a total of 177,556 cases, with 111,037 recoveries.
