Hoosiers beat Iowa on Franklin’s late bucket

BLOOMINGTO­N, Ind. — Armaan Franklin made a 15-footer with 1.8 seconds left Sunday, giving Indiana a 67-65 victory and a season sweep of No. 8 Iowa.

Franklin finished with four points as the Hoosiers (10-8, 5-6 Big Ten) ended a two-game losing streak. Their only wins since Jan. 10 both came against the Hawkeyes. Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 17 points and Race Thompson had 15 for Indiana.

Luka Garza scored 16 of his 18 points for Iowa in the second half, including 12 straight during the closing minutes. Iowa (13-6, 7-5) had one last gasp, but the long inbound pass hit the backboard and bounced toward midcourt, where Jordan Bohannon tried a one-handed heave that also bounced off the backboard. NO. 3 VILLANOVA 84, GEORGETOWN 74: In Villanova, Pa., Jermaine Samuels scored a careerhigh 32 points to lead the Wildcats (12-2, 7-1 Big East) past the Hoyas (5-9, 3-6).

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl added 14 points and Collin Gillespie had 12 for the Wildcats, who rebounded from Wednesday’s loss at St. John’s. VALPARAISO 74, NO. 25 DRAKE 57: In Valparaiso, Ind. Ben Krikke scored 15 points and the Crusaders (7-12, 4-6 Missouri Valley) handed the Bulldogs (18-1, 9-1) their first loss of the season.

The defeat for Drake leaves No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 2 Baylor as the only remaining major college teams without a loss.

NEVADA 73, BOISE STATE 62: In Reno, Nev., Grant Sherfield had a career-high 29 points as the Wolf Pack (14-7, 9-5 Mountain West) got past the Broncos (14-4, 10-3).

Stephanie Watts added 17 points for the Tar Heels, who hit a seasonhigh 11 3-pointers and led by as many as a dozen after halftime. NEVADA 68, BOISE STATE 44: In Boise, Idaho, Da’ja Hamilton led the Wolf Pack (9-8, 5-7 Mountain West) in a rout of the Broncos (9-6, 6-6).

UNLV 68, AIR FORCE 47: In Colorado Springs, Nia Johnson scored 18 points, leading the Rebels (10-7, 8-4) past the Falcons (4-11, 2-8).
