ABQ police investigate ‘suspicious death’
Albuquerque police are trying to determine what led to the death of a woman who was hit by a vehicle near the Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course in Northeast Albuquerque early Monday morning.
Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, said that around 3:40 a.m. officers were called to a crash involving a pedestrian on Osuna near San Pedro NE.
“Officers and (Albuquerque Fire Rescue) responded to the scene and determined that the injuries suffered by the female victim were not survivable,” Gallegos wrote in an email. “She died at the scene.”
Another APD spokesman initially said overnight that the department was investigating a hit and run. Then, he said, they determined it was a homicide.
On Monday afternoon, Gallegos said traffic investigators and homicide detectives are trying to determine what happened and the case is considered a “suspicious death investigation.”
