Let’s celebrate anyone getting the shot, folks

OLDER PEOPLE and those with health conditions are more likely to suffer serious consequences and even death from COVID-19, true. But younger, healthier people are most likely to spread it. Vaccinating younger, healthier people, even if it’s “not their turn,” helps protect the community, too.

The rollout of the vaccine is something we’ve never done before, so people are learning as they go. When there’s a possibility of vaccine being wasted, I would prefer health workers call family and friends to come receive it rather than toss it.

We are all tired of these restrictions, and they are way harder on some than others. Let’s get through this last push together, supporting each other and celebrating each step forward. Don’t waste energy judging who “deserves” the vaccine. We all do. MOLLY GRADY
