Older New Mexicans deserve vaccine priority
AS I READ a Journal letter (Feb. 4) dealing with the vaccination process in this state, it became clear that those of us 75 and older may not receive the life-saving vaccine for many months. Keep in mind that in a Journal letter, Dr. John Mosman reported that eight out of 10 deaths are in the 75 and over range. The group that those of us 75 or older are in is composed of 151,653 individuals, according to a Journal article, whereas the total group we are in is composed of 800,000. Considering that older adults are more vulnerable and probably have pre-existing conditions, it would seem thought might be given to prioritizing us. I have read about the fact that prioritizing is done by random selection; however, it is never explained . ... Looking for answers. BARBARA WARREN
