Michael S. Foster

-

Michael S. Foster, 69, sadly passed away Saturday January 16. Michael started with humble beginnings, but always had a love of music. He graduated from Valley High School in 1969. Shortly after he received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in music from NMHU. He accepted a teaching job in Grants New Mexico, that would forever shape his career in education.

When he reflected on his career he always would find his way back to his memories of working with the Grants High School Fine Arts Programs, Drill Team, and many other after school activities. He would always smile and talk about the fun times he had with "his kids". As his daughter I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of his students and learning about the incredible impact he had on their lives. Hearing their anecdotes about him, while kindly referring to him as “Mr. F” is now such a comfort. He had many titles: a Grandson, a Son, a Brother, a Friend, a Father, a Grandfather, but he will always be a very special teacher to many.

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of ot hers.” ~Thucydides
