Stroke checklist
To evaluate if someone is having a stroke, Dr. Michel Torbey, chair of the University of New Mexico Department of Neurology, suggests that people think of the acronym BEFAST:
B for loss of balance and sudden dizziness
E for eyes and loss of vision in one or both eyes, or eyes that can’t track
F for facial weakness and a drooping smile A for arm weakness S for speech that is incoherent or slurred
T for time, and the necessity of seeking medical attention immediately
