Maxine Todd, age 80, passed away on February 1, 2021. She is survived by her sons, James Todd and partner, Deborah Pierson, and Robert Todd and partner, Amber Bennett. She is also survived by her grandchildren Shane and Maria Pierson, and Jessie and Max Todd. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Jack W. and Helen Berry, and her brother, Jack W. Berry, Jr.

Maxine spent 30 plus years doing what she loved, teaching children. She loved helping them find the joy in learning and was rewarded in kind when her students became proficient in the subject she was teaching. She taught with a kind firmness and never gave up on any student. Even after she "retired" from teaching at Albuquerque Public Schools, she continued to teach at the Albuquerque Academy as part of their summer program. She also helped out at other public and private schools, wherever and whenever she was needed. And finally, she always seemed to have extra time to tutor students individually.

Maxine was very involved in her Church, Central United Methodist and her faith in the Church and its teachings was inspirational. She was instrumental in her Church’s outreach to the homeless, donating time and effort to Saranam. Saranam is a 2-year housing, education, and community-building program for families experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque, NM. Saranam offers a comprehensive range of services to assist families in transitioning beyond homelessness. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Saranam at https://saranamabq.org/.

A virtual service will be held online on Friday, February 19, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. and can be viewed at https://centraltolife.org/ .
