Teachers need to work just like the rest of us

-

FIRST, IT wasn’t your fault for the students not graduating, let alone being able to read because they are poor, underfed, don’t speak English, etc. Then, it was completely unfair to evaluate you on how kids learn or how well they do on tests because why would we actually rate you on your job? Then COVID hit and all of you didn’t have to go to work at all.

You are not teaching kids, you are assigning homework to parents who are trying to balance work, life, children and now doing your jobs. The best is now that the CDC says it’s OK to go back to in-classroom learning and the state is also saying it is OK, you don’t want to. You think you are more important than the elderly, the sick, the front-line workers, police and fire departments?

I’m going to give you a headsup — everyone gets evaluated on how well they do their jobs. If you consistently don’t do your job well, you are terminated. People are returning to work without being vaccinated, they take precautions and wear a mask. You are not special, you are like every other New Mexican struggling to get by in a bad situation.
