Wyoming vs. New Mexico

What you need to know about the Cowboys:

The Cowboys in Jeff Linder’s first season are all about the 3-pointer, ranking No. 23 in the country in 3-point distribution (they get 39.0% of their points from 3-pointers) and rank just 341st in points scored on 2-point shots (41.8%). Wyoming has seven players who have hit 10 or more 3s and five who have hit 22 or more. Freshman Marcus Williams, the leader in the clubhouse for Mountain West Freshman of the Year, scored in double digits in all but two games this season, but those two are in the past four games. He also had 18 turnovers in those games. Coming on strong lately has been freshman Graham Ike, who earned his first start in the team’s last game and, after not playing in the first 13 games, is now the team’s top big man, but has proven vulnerable to foul trouble.

What you need to know about the Lobos:

It’s hard to know for sure who will be available for the Lobos. Five players whose availability in the past two weeks have been in question for a variety of reasons have all at least practiced in that time per pictures posted by the team on social media. While that doesn’t necessarily mean they will play, it does mean team doctors have cleared each to at least resume practice, which is a sign their seasons won’t be over. One of those players, freshman guard Isaiah Marin, has an eye injury that UNM seems to be in consultation with an outside doctor about. Without being able to guess the rotation, the reality is the Lobos will be playing on an 18-day break after playing well enough to win both games in the Fresno State series Jan. 28 and 30.
