State reports 427 new COVID-19 cases

New Mexico health officials reported 427 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the seventh day in a row that the state has had fewer than 500 new infections.

Eleven additional virus-related deaths were also reported, bringing the total since the pandemic began to more than 3,600.

The update left the rolling, seven-day averages at 312 cases and 13 deaths a day. This time last month the averages were 960 cases and 28 deaths a day.

All but two of the 11 most recent deaths reportedly had underlying conditions. The deceased ranged in age from their 50s to their 90s.

The majority of new cases came from Bernalillo County, which had 95, and Doña Ana County, with 70, according to the information provided by the state.

There were also six new cases among inmates at the Lea County Correctional Facility.

The state has seen 182,475 COVID-19 cases and 3,610 deaths from the virus since the first case in the state was reported in March.

There were 278 people hospitalized with the virus across the state Saturday. That number may include those who tested positive out of state but were hospitalized in New Mexico.

The New Mexico Department of Health has designated 130,775 COVID-19 cases as having recovered.
