Zuni Pueblo man gets 10 years for drunken crash
A Zuni Pueblo man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for running into two children while driving drunk, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Stanton Sanchez, 33, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court. He had pleaded guilty Jan. 8, 2020, admitting to driving recklessly while intoxicated and hitting the children who were walking in a residential area on Zuni Pueblo on July 22, 2018, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release. Sanchez’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, the release says.
Both children, who were 10 and 11 at the time, suffered serious injuries.
