■ Sen. Ted Cruz flew off to a Mexican seaside vacation in Cancun this past week rather than stay in Texas and help out in the weather and power emergency. We know one thing. Ted Cruz was completely safe while he was in Cancun because the cartels know we would NOT pay the ransom.
■ The Economist last week marked huge advances for Democrats, liberals and leftists in the culture wars. Rush Limbaugh died, the Trump Casino in Atlantic City was imploded and Tim Tebow retired from sports. It’s the worst week for Confederate monuments since the riots last summer.
■ The Distilled Spirits Council forecast a second straight huge year in the sales of hard liquor and wine in the U.S. A study by the American Medical Association reveals alcohol kills 2.5 million Americans per year. OK, but think of how many people alcohol produces every year.
