God bless America, and how’s everybody?

■ Sen. Ted Cruz was ripped for flying to Cancun as the storm approached Texas when I think he was showing leadership. Hey, Texas is full of rich people, why didn’t they ALL fly to Cancun and leave the electricity to those stranded behind. In times like these, it’s every Republican for himself.

■ The Hollywood Reporter reports Henry Cavill signed a deal to star in the next three Superman movies. When I was a kid reading comic books, the ability to read people’s minds was considered a superpower. Social media has certainly shown us just how useless THAT superpower turned out to be.

■ California Gov. Gavin Newsom is under huge pressure this week to reopen public venues, clubs, concerts, meeting halls and churches after 11 months of shutdown. The random selectivity made no sense. Leave it to California to close down the AA meetings and leave the liquor stores open.
