New Mexico health officials reported 314 additional COVID-19 cases Tuesday and nine deaths.

It was the 10th straight day the state had fewer than 500 daily cases and fewer than 20 deaths — the first such streak in months.

The current seven-day averages are 325 cases and 13 deaths a day. This time last month, the averages were 812 cases and 30 deaths.

Eight of the nine most recent deaths were men, all with underlying conditions, a news release from the state said. Three were from Bernalillo County. The deceased ranged in age from their 50s to their 90s.

The majority of new cases were in Bernalillo County, which had 111, and Doña Ana County, with 47. There were also eight new cases among inmates at the Lea County Correctional Facility.

The state has recorded 183,335 virus cases and 3,644 deaths from the virus since the pandemic began.

On Tuesday, 261 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in New Mexico. That number may include those who tested positive out of state but are hospitalized here.

As of Tuesday, 135,608 COVID-19 cases have been designated as having recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.
