Let sports come back for our kids
... THE SOCIAL disconnection of the past year has had a profoundly negative impact on my high school son. More so than I ever imagined possible . ... In turn, I have empathy for those teachers as they have not been vaccinated and are grossly underpaid anyway. But at the end of that line of understandable dominoes sits my son.
Tying in-person instruction to athletics now denies my son the opportunity to learn the lessons athletics teaches us that are so critical. Our children need these skills now more than ever. Those lessons dovetail with all the good things parents and teachers say are important: commitment, determination, dedication, trust, etc. Now is our time to remember those lessons ourselves and trust parents to make the right decision for their individual family.
... Governor, swing for the fences by trusting parents to make a decision right for their family. Doing so will balance the playing field of life. JASON BOUSLIMAN
