U.S. Open qualifier set for UNM course

UNM Championship Golf Course has been chosen to host a May 10 local qualifier for the 2021 U.S. Open, which takes place from June 17-20 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego.

The qualifier is open to professionals and amateurs with a Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4. Those who advance through local qualifying will move on to final qualifying, to be contested over 36 holes at nine U.S. sites. Entry applications are available through April 21 at champs. usga.org.

NEW MEXICO STATE: Aidan Thomas, St. Pius alumnus and NMSU freshman, is the Western Athletic Conference men’s golfer of the week after he finished tied for 13th at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas with a three-round score of 219 (+3).
