APD investigates death of man outside motel
Detectives are investigating after a man was found dead outside Northeast Albuquerque motel Thursday morning.
Albuquerque police Sgt. Tanner Tixier said officers responded around 1 a.m. to reports of an unconscious person at the Motel 6 on University near Interstate 40.
He said officers found a man in front of the motel and he was pronounced dead soon after. Witnesses told police they had seen the man earlier in an altercation with an unknown person.
Tixier said the death is being investigated as a homicide, but gave no other details.
SF pays family $500K in electrocution settlement
SANTA FE — The city of Santa Fe has settled with the family of a former city worker electrocuted while changing a light fixture at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center in April 2019.
The family of Tobin “Toby” Williams will receive $500,000 from the city after the Santa Fe City Council approved the settlement Wednesday.
An investigation of the incident had revealed the city routinely asked untrained employees replace electrical equipment, increasing the risk for injury and death on the job.
The city also paid the state of
New Mexico $120,000 for violations stemming from the same incident.
Woman accused in stabbing incident
FARMINGTON — A Farmington woman is accused of stabbing another woman with a machete after they had been drinking alcohol and fighting.
Tanea Camacho, 29, allegedly attacked the woman on the night of Feb. 21 at a residence in the 2500 block of East 16th Street in Farmington, according to the probable cause statement filed in the case.
Camacho is charged with a thirddegree felony count of aggravated battery, according to court documents.
She did not have legal representation the morning of Feb. 24.
