Linda M. Galanis

-

Linda Marie Galanis was born February 27, 1948 in Gallup, New Mexico to parents Demetrios “Jimmy” and Vera Galanis. Linda passed away just four days shy of her birthday on February 23, 2021 into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

After Linda graduated high school in 1966 she went on to pursue her dream of creating hair styles and went to beautician school in both Albuquerque and Gallup. Linda was the proprietor of Buffy’s Salon in Albuquerque and ran the successful salon in the 80’s.

After Linda closed Buffy’s she went back to Gallup where she met and married John J. Jewitt. Since John was in the restaurant business, they traveled to various places and went to different food fairs. She loved trying various foods as Linda was quite the foodie.

In the 90’s Linda traveled to Paris and then to Greece to visit her father’s homeland, cousins and Aunt. She couldn’t care any less about museums or sites in these countries, because Linda was the ultimate food critic. She did not care for the cuisine of Paris, but did indeed chomp her way through her cousins’ meals and various restaurants throughout Greece.

Linda will be tremendously missed and leaves a huge void in our hearts that can never be filled until we are reunited as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ. She could be so hilariously funny that she left family and friends in tears from laughter. On a more serious side, she was gifted by the Lord as evidenced by her capacity to forgive. She truly lived a life of forgive and forget. Although there are those that forgive, she was exemplary in forgetting wrongs. She had a very gentle and meek spirit and it could be seen in her very gentle, kind and beautiful eyes.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and husband John J. Jewitt. She is survived by her children Demetria Mapes (Mark), Richard Marino, brother George Galanis (Anne), sister Twila Galanis (Bill Wilson), grandchildren Hunter Mapes, Rylee Mapes, Isaiah Marino, her beloved niece Georgene Galanis-Dimas, beloved nephew Sasha Wilson, beloved cousin Arlene Paoaroon and former husband Ben Marino.

Interment with a graveside service will be in Gallup at Sunset Memorial Park on Friday, March 5th, 2021 at 1:00 PM and a memorial church service in Albuquerque at Tramway Community Church on Saturday March 6th at 1:00. Pallbearers are: Mark Mapes, Jimmy Galanis, Will Galanis, Richard Marino, Sasha Wilson and Isaiah Marino. Honorary pallbearer is Dominic J. Biava Sr.
