Luella Lorene Revels

-

(Luella) Lorene Revels, age 95, peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021. She lived a long and rewarding life; she was loved by many. Lorene was born in Fowler, KS, to Hank and Viola Weaver, the oldest daughter of their eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, James (Jimmy) Weaver, Gilbert (Gil) Weaver, (Doran) Gene Weaver, and Ronald Weaver; as well as her husband of 64 years, George; sons, Jerry and his wife, JoAnn (nee Sedall), and Jeff. Her surviving siblings are, Wilda Ellibee of Stephenville, TX, Mary Granone of Albuquerque, and Sada Cox of T or C, NM; as well as her surviving daughter, Beth Revels and her husband, George Sturgis.

When the Great Dustbowl in Kansas threatened to take Mary (after it had already taken Ronald), the family moved west. Fortunately, the car broke down here, instead of their intended destination of Phoenix. After graduating from Albuquerque High School at 17, she went right to work for Western Union as a telegraph operator first in St. Louis, MO, and then in Oakland, CA, before returning here. She married, though briefly, and had a son, Jerald (Jerry) David. A few years later though, she met and married her lifelong partner, George W. Revels, at a USO dance. Together they had two children, Jeffery (Jeff) Dale and Beth Allison. The family of five thrived here in the north valley with family, friends, work, school, clubs, leagues, hobbies and such. Lorene’s two surviving grandchildren from Jerry and JoAnn are Leisa Marie (Casey) Revels, (whose children are Ryan Casey and Matthew Casey) and Jason Daniel Revels, and Brooke (nee Sensency) (whose children are Jake Revels and Josh Revels).

George and Lorene retired and spent twenty wonderful years enjoying the US in their RV. Lorene, often called Renie, honed her craft of quilting in these later years, leaving many beautiful keepsakes for family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH-University. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
