Our father, Jack (Jackie) Wayne Newsom, Sr. was born November

12, 1936. He passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 21,

2021 at 5:02 p.m.

Jack was a beloved father, grandfathe­r, great grandfathe­r, brother, uncle, and friend to many, and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Newsom; mother, Helen Newsom; daughter, Janet Newsom and grandson, Gerald-Lee Newsom II. He is survived by his seven children, Jack Newsom Jr, (spouse, Theri GriegoRaby), Jerry Newsom (spouse, Vicki Newsom) , Gene Newsom (spouse, Carole Newsom), Elizabeth Newsom (spouse, Matthew Johnson) and Rhonda Newsom (spouse, Gil Santisteva­n), Tommy Newsom (spouse, Eric Turic) and Patrick Newsom (spouse, Anne Reis); sister, Catherine Newsom Mc Roberts; nine grandchild­ren, Jherica, Lauren, Isabella, Shane, Emilio, Madeline, Raquel, Nicolas and Santiago; five great grandchild­ren, Indie, Xavier, Zaiden, Levi and Ollie. Born November 12, 1936 to Helen and Charles Newsom, Jack was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. He attended St Mary’s Catholic School in Albuquerqu­e, graduating in 1954. He was a stellar athlete lettering in football, wrestling and track. He proudly served in the Air National Guard for 13 years. He was an accomplish­ed and wellrespec­ted Profession­al Photograph­er for more than 50 years, earning a master’s degree in photograph­y. He received numerous awards locally, nationally, and internatio­nally. As well, served as President of the New Mexico Profession­al Photograph­ers Guild. He was known for his wit and corny jokes which he kept up his entire life. Often eliciting laugh- ter, chuckles and many, many eye rolls. Jack was a Profession­al Photograph­er, Private Investigat­or, Deputy Sheriff, Guide, Gun Handler, Pilot, Pool Player, Military Basic Training Instructor, Fine Arts Instructor, Internatio­nal Speaker, Bilingual, Stage Performer and Poet. He also was a great Dancer. Above all else, he was kind, loving and gracious. Memorial Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW. ABQ., NM., on Saturday, July 10, 2021. A Rosary will be recited at 9:02 am and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:02 am. Arrangemen­ts by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW.
