Metro Court to resume in-person hearings

- JOURNAL STAFF REPORT

Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court will resume in-person hearings on Monday and court officials are asking people to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled hearings.

Arriving early will allow court personnel to complete health and security screenings, Metro Court spokeswoman Camille Baca said in a written statement.

The New Mexico Supreme Court recently authorized courts to resume several kinds of in-person criminal proceedings, including bench trials, plea and sentencing hearings, and preliminary hearings.

The state’s busiest court has been mailing notices to people scheduled for in-person hearings, Baca said.

People with an upcoming court date who are uncertain whether to attend in person are encouraged to contact their attorneys or call the court at 505-841-8151.
