A new program designed to support emerging space and directed-energy companies in Albuquerque has begun accepting applications.

The Soft Landing Space Tech Cohort will accept applications through Aug. 30. The new program is open to domestic and international companies with an emphasis on space and directedenergy development — including laser-related technology. The cohort will be hosted by Q Station, a hub for space and directed-energy companies that opened in Nob Hill earlier this year, according to a news release from the organizers. The yearlong program is slated to begin in October.

Selected companies will be given a year of business assistance in government contracting, public relations, marketing and finance, along with a free workspace at Q station for a year, a paid university intern and connections to top space research and development hubs in New Mexico, the release said.

Companies will be guided and given business assistance to help them contract or work alongside the country’s leading scientists and engineers in the Air Force Research Laboratory and with new U.S. Space Command leadership. The program is intended to get the top space technology companies to work with or for U.S. government leaders in order to spur innovation more quickly, according to the release.

Applicants will be expected to move their team or a member of their team to Q Station and to participate in active programming and ecosystem building activities, the release said. Space is limited and selected companies will be notified by Sept. 10.
