‘Cop on the Corner’ program underway

- JOURNAL AND WIRE REPORTS

A new program aimed at connecting residents with the officers who patrol their neighborhoods has been launched by the Albuquerque Police Department.

The “Cop on the Corner” briefings began this week, according to a department news release.

“This new effort provides a voice to people living in our city, and direct access to officers where they can address issues and concerns,” Police Chief Harold Medina said.

Residents can attend area field briefings as part of the program, while officers can get information about crime and specific issues related to the neighborhoods.

“It is also an opportunity for officers to provide the public with crime prevention tips and tools,” APD said.
