My 2 cents? We ratepayers will be on the hook for millions
BE AFRAID, be very afraid. PNM is going to get ratepayers one way or another. A merger with an international company. Whose customer service is in question. Who have paid fines in the millions. Wait, don’t worry, just the cost of doing business.
PNM executives who are leaving the company being paid millions. Wait, don’t worry, ratepayers not on the hook for this expense, either. We just get to pay the ... millions PNM is losing.
Wait a minute — Avangrid is paying top dollar for PNM, so where’s their loss? Oh yes, they have to shutter the San Juan generating plant. Is PNM paying San Juan County and Navajo Nation residents for damage to the air quality, Morgan Lake or health problems? What about the brown haze over Farmington? Methane cloud seen from outer space it’s so big. Read about the mysterious collapse of the stack at the plant. Did it collapse because the plant is old and needs to be shut down anyway?
Ratepayers are supposed to be happy because Avangrid is going to give us a credit of just over $2 on our bill. Whoopee! That’s really going to offset the millions we get to pay PNM.
