Charles Kelley had an opportunity to reflect on his career during a 16-month break from touring due to the pandemic. What he thought about was simple — being grateful. He’s toured the world and found mainstream success with the Grammy Awardwinning country trio Lady A. Kelley is joined by Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood in the band, which will release its eighth full-length album, “What a Song Can Do,” on Oct. 22. The tour will make a stop at Isleta Amphitheater on Thursday, Sept. 9. 4

Tim Sparks works with stories that pique his interest.

With his latest film, “Amaraica,” he used his personal experience to write and direct the project. The film was picked up by HBO and will be aired beginning Friday, Sept. 3. “Amaraica” is Sparks’ directorial debut. He was also inspired by the inhumane practice of child separation at the U.S.Mexican border.

The film follows Roberto Hernandez, an undocumented roofer who is seeking to obtain his papers through marriage but is thwarted from his goal when his ex-girlfriend shows up nine months pregnant claiming he is the father.
