Jones passed from this life on November 28, 2021. Durward Lee Jones was born in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico on July 6, 1934 to Charley and Elisabeth Hudson Jones. Durward graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerqu­e and joined the Navy in 1952 and considered it to be his main career, retiring with rank of Chief Pety Officer after 22 years. He served in Korea and Vietnam and made the front page of the Albuquerqu­e journal. Durward traveled the seas to many exotic and dangerous places, being at sea for months at a time. After military service, Durward pursued a career in law enforcemen­t. He served as Catron County Sheriff and deputy. He was a correction­s officer in Oregon for several years. He worked for the Forest Service as a spotter, working in many towers in the Gila, a job he enjoyed because he always loved the forest. Durward was a gifted artist in many mediums. He was modest about is talents. He wasn’t limited to any one medium and it was magical how he could be creative,seemingly, without much effort. Durward enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife of many years, Connie. They both enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Durward was treasured by his wife, children, grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews. He had a quick wit and humor. Durward was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Pamela Smith, a stepson Randall Cogdill, and his brother Charley Jones and his wife Dorothy. Durward is survived by his wife of 41 years Connie, his brother Chris, and his wife Conny, his daughter, Janet Warren and husband Mark, his step daughter Amanda Young and her son Dustin, grandson Ryan Warren and his wife Natasha and their sons, Slade and Draven, and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed.

Services to be held April 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, New Mexico.

Epifanio “Eppie” Gallegos was born on April 20th, 1945. He was from La Jara, New Mexico. He passed away on March

26, 2022. He was

76 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, Baltazar and Teofila Gallegos and his brothers, Don Gallegos and Pat Gallegos. Epi was married on June 7, 1969 to Sylvia Gallegos (Segura) for 53 years. Together they had two children; Charles and Rhonda and two grandchild­ren: Emma and Oslo. He is survived by brothers and sisters Ralph Gallegos, Dennis Gallegos, Bobby Gallegos, Richard (Walter) Gallegos, Sylvia McCoy, Tillie Armijo, and Tita Gallegos.

Epi graduated from Cuba High School. He was a military veteran; he served in the United States Army and he was stationed in both California and Germany. He was a graduate of Parks College. He retired from “the labs” in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Epi was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, New Mexico. He will be placed to rest in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Epi and Sylvia lived together for 15 years in Bernalillo, New Mexico. They also lived in Arizona,

Wyoming, Colorado, and Alaska. During his retirement in Bernalillo, Epi began collecting and building his “oldies” and participat­ing in car shows with his numerous classic cars and trucks. Epi was a traveler and a hunter. He was happiest on his property in La Jara, New Mexico. He loved music, specifical­ly Country, Classic 1950’s music and his favorite New Mexican music. He once won a dance contest and was featured on KOB TV when he was 7 years old. He was the very best storytelle­r too.

Epi enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at Mc Donald’s, talking and laughing on his porch with family and doing anything and everything with Sylvia by his side. Epi was the very best son, husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, tio and friend. He was humble, kind, generous, brave, honest, reliable and he had the best sense of humor. No one was more proud of his wife, his children and his grandchild­ren than him. His family, his friends and his faith were everything to him. He will be missed everyday, he will be loved forever and he will never be forgotten. Epi was truly special, he was a one-of-a-kind man and he will always be “One of the Great Ones.”
