Kay Sue Ortega
Kay Sue Ortega, age 76, passed away peacefully March 29, 2022 as a resident of Enid, Oklahoma and a proud tribal member of The Pawnee Nation. Kay was born August 10, 1945 and as many knew, she kept her contagious smile on her face sinceforth. Kay graduated from Pawnee High School in 1963. Right out of high school she moved to Washington DC where she began to work for the federal government at age 18, as retired EEOC specialist 1998. After moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico she compassionately worked for the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center where her passion was centered around Cultural awareness. Her deep love and passion for children thrived as she helped run the children’s camps to learn and experience native culture and traditions. After retiring, she moved to Enid in 2019. Kay was an inspiration to all who knew her with her diligent care, and every lasting love, but especially her kind and gentle spirit was shown through how deeply she loved her friends and family. Kay is proceeded in death by her mother, Mary Louise Griffin, father Edward Griffin II, and her loving husband, A Paul Ortega. She is survived by her twin sister and brother, her four children, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The biggest aspect of her life was her grandchildren, and of course, wheel of fortune. Kay was a person of great faith, who served others without hesitation. Kay’s bright soulful spirit will live on forever as it always has. A private ceremony will be held and celebration of life is to be determined at a later date.
