Bernalillo County Metro Court judge to transfer to civil division

Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court Judge Vidalia Chavez will transfer to the court’s civil division after serving seven years on the criminal bench, effective Friday, the court announced Monday.

Chavez was elected to Metro Court in 2014 and served as presiding judge in the criminal division from 2017 to 2018. A lifelong Albuquerque resident, Chavez worked previously with the Law Offices of the Public Defender and in private practice. She graduated in 2006 from the University of New Mexico School of Law.
