Tony Cordova passed away peacefully on

April 15, 2022, Good Friday. He is survived by his son, Mark Cordova; daughter and son-in-law,

Durees; Mark Newell; his adored grandchildren, Travis, Amanda, Erika (Krysiak) Newell; great-grandson, Weston Krysiak; and brothers, Tito and Sisto.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary (Marge); his parents, Jose and Tita Cordova; sister, Elsie (Montoya); and brothers, Leo and Stevie. In his early twenties, after he and Marge were married, Tony moved to California ahead of his bride and found work as a postman. Shortly after, his brother, Leo, encouraged him to work for the Los Angeles Times where he spent his 35+ year career as a pressman. Tony was a quiet, good man. In 1997, he and Marge, both retired now, moved back "home" to Albuquerque where they spent their remaining years. Their home, whether in CA or NM, was always open to all. Tony loved his sports and could be heard, with some choice words at times, rooting or getting mad at his favorite teams, the Oakland Raiders and UCLA Bruins. He enjoyed playing golf, especially with his son, cous- in Ernie Matamorez, and childhood friend Clifford Johnson. Anyone who knows Tony knows he lived life to the fullest. He always said he didn’t want people to be sad at his funeral, but instead, throw a party for him. Although he will be greatly missed, he is now back with Marge, the love of his life, and the Lord.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 6, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Road NE.

Interment will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation in Tony’s name to a favorite charity. Please visit our online guest book for Tony at www.FrenchFunerals.com.
