-

New Mexico long jumper Elizabeth White and the Lobos’ men’s 4x400-meter relay highlighted the New Mexico Collegiate Classic performances over the weekend at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The meet attracted some top talent. The Arkansas women’s 4x400-meter relay squad ran the fastest time of the season at 3:29.29 minutes (converted from 3:28.85), while Texas’s Julien Alfred broke her own collegiate record in the 60-meters at 7.02 seconds (altitudeconverted from 7.00).

“The atmosphere this weekend was absolutely electric,” said UNM head coach Joe Franklin.

White’s record came on her first attempt Friday, landing 20 feet, 6 inches to top Aasha Marler’s 2015 jump of 6.22 meters (20-5¼). She took second place in the 69-jumper field.

The Lobo men’s 4x400 men’s squad broke the school record for the second straight week. Jovahn Williamson, Jevon O’Bryant, Rivaldo Leacock, and Brodie Young finished in 3:06.58 minutes (3:06.14). That topped last week’s record-setting 3:08.81 (3:08.37).

NEXT WEEK: The Lobos host the Don Kirby Invitational on Friday and Saturday, and also will send athletes to the Husky Classic in Seattle.
