Barry “Boy” Gonzalez Jr., 71, beloved husband, brother, father, grandpa, greatgrandpa, and friend peacefully slipped into eternal rest on November 30th, 2022. Boy will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Vicki and their children, Jerry and his wife Jill, Michael, Robert, Marie and her husband Tim, and daughter-in law Lynette, eight grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren. Survived by his siblings, Nora and her husband Ramon, Sandra and her husband Johnny, Richard and his wife Joann, Danny and his wife Eva, and Toni and her husband Frank, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Barry Sr. and Cuca and his brother, Richard.

Born in Hatch, New Mexico to Barry Sr. and Cuca Gonzalez on October 27th, 1951, Boy had a brilliant mind and imagination. He loved building, inventing, fixing, and restoring things and could sit down with a piece of paper, draft a design, and then build it from items he had around the house or in his garage. He was the person you could count on to come over and fix anything from appliances to vehicles and never asked for anything in return. Boy was a collector of many things and could see the potential treasure in every item, no matter its age or condition. He enjoyed rock hounding, exploring, fishing, and especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Meeting new people and catching up with people he had not seen in a while was one of his favorite things to do and he always had time to stop and talk with others whether he was outside tinkering or in town at the store. He loved to bargain hunt and buy or barter for cars, trucks, equipment, parts, and just about anything else he found interesting or unique. He enjoyed spending time outside with his treasures and sharing his excitement and passion with anyone who came around when he was starting a new project or completed one. He was an amazing man who loved and taught us all so much and will remain in our thoughts and hearts forever.

Services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 17th at the San Isidro Catholic Church located at 2003 Loma Parda Rd., Garfield, New Mexico 87936. Burial Services will follow at the Garfield Cemetery.
