John C. Folkner

John Christophe­r Folkner, a lifelong resident of Albuquerqu­e, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, in his sleep. John was born on July 24, 1962, to Mary Ann and Lewis Folkner. He graduated from St. Pius X High School and then attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautic­al University in Prescott, AZ before graduating from UNM. He later establishe­d Folkner Computing Industries which he operated for over 20 years.

John Chris was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. He was a lector and helped with the youth choir, as well as attaining a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed roleplayin­g games, vintage TV, live theater, playing chess; and even had success in brewing beer. He participat­ed in a community garden and was always up to visiting the family home in Pinos Altos, NM.

John is predecease­d by his father, Lewis Folkner, his mother and stepfather, Mary Ann and Jack Adams, and two brothers, John and David Adams. He is survived by seven siblings: brother Michael Adams of Santa Fe, brother Rob and wife Boo Folkner and brother Chuck Folkner of Chandler, AZ, sister Sher and husband Gary Gibson, brother Mark and Susan Folkner, sister Holly Adams, and brother Stephen Folkner, all of Albuquerqu­e. He is also survived by nine nieces and one nephew, three great nieces and eight great nephews, and two great grand nieces.

We will miss John’s quick wit and gentle soul.

A rosary led by the Knights of Columbus will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 8:15 am at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. This will be followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 am. Afterwards a reception will be held at a private home.
