NMBorderplex program commits $530K to new jobs
The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico and the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance have committed $530,000 to six companies aimed at creating 937 economic-based jobs as part of the 2022 NMBorderplex Incentive Program, according to a news release.
“The NMBorderplex Incentive Program is a post-performance, economic-based, job creation grant managed by MVEDA with financial assistance from the NM Economic
Development Fund, a multipurpose economic development initiative administered by the CFSNM,” the release states. “It is estimated that the economic impacts of these investments in 2022 will lead to over $126 million in new household spending and an overall economic impact of $461 million to the region over the next five years.” The recipients are:
■ Artico Cold Storage
■ Electronic Caregiver
■ BitWise Industries
■ Worthington Farms And two more companies that have yet to be announced.
The New Mexico Economic Development Fund was established by El Paso Electric to provide $1 million per year for 20 years aimed at creating economic growth in El Paso Electric’s New Mexico Service area by supporting private businesses, projects and organizations working toward development and creation of new jobs.
Parker Center for Family Business offers lunch Feb. 16
The Parker Center for Family
Business is hosting a lunch on Feb. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5051 Journal Center NE for family business members and advisers of family-owned businesses.
The lunch will include a presentation from two members from the Parker Center’s board of directors — Jocelyn Gorman and Mike Vigil — on assuming significant leadership roles with their family businesses.
The Parker Center aids family-owned businesses in finding solutions for problems they experience when working with their family members.
