NMBorderpl­ex program commits $530K to new jobs

The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico and the Mesilla Valley Economic Developmen­t Alliance have committed $530,000 to six companies aimed at creating 937 economic-based jobs as part of the 2022 NMBorderpl­ex Incentive Program, according to a news release.

“The NMBorderpl­ex Incentive Program is a post-performanc­e, economic-based, job creation grant managed by MVEDA with financial assistance from the NM Economic

Developmen­t Fund, a multipurpo­se economic developmen­t initiative administer­ed by the CFSNM,” the release states. “It is estimated that the economic impacts of these investment­s in 2022 will lead to over $126 million in new household spending and an overall economic impact of $461 million to the region over the next five years.” The recipients are:

■ Artico Cold Storage

■ Electronic Caregiver

■ BitWise Industries

■ Worthingto­n Farms And two more companies that have yet to be announced.

The New Mexico Economic Developmen­t Fund was establishe­d by El Paso Electric to provide $1 million per year for 20 years aimed at creating economic growth in El Paso Electric’s New Mexico Service area by supporting private businesses, projects and organizati­ons working toward developmen­t and creation of new jobs.

Parker Center for Family Business offers lunch Feb. 16

The Parker Center for Family

Business is hosting a lunch on Feb. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5051 Journal Center NE for family business members and advisers of family-owned businesses.

The lunch will include a presentati­on from two members from the Parker Center’s board of directors — Jocelyn Gorman and Mike Vigil — on assuming significan­t leadership roles with their family businesses.

The Parker Center aids family-owned businesses in finding solutions for problems they experience when working with their family members.
