Mr. Juan Santiago born in Albuquerqu­e on July

12, 1929, passed into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

He is preceded in death by Mrs. Nina Santiago, his parents, Sisto and Maria Santiago, his sisters Pauline and Lourdes, his son-in-law, Dr. Joe Valles, and his daughter, Rita Santiago-Greene.

His surviving brothers and sisters are respective­ly, Tony and Sifi, Moncy and Peggy.

Most of all his absence will truly be felt by Susan Candelaria his best friend and partner, her niece, Abbey and nephews, Alex, and Jayden. Their visits to the Waffle House were certainly happy days.

His surviving children are Johnnina and husband Bob Ortega, their children: Feliz and Adan; Joanne and departed Dr. Joe Valles, their sons: Doctors Domingo and Emiliano Valles and nephews Jason and Javier; Michael Santiago and Maurice Santiago, their children Jon Michael and Megan; Mario Santiago and Karla, his children: Moses, Selina, and Carlos; Jude and husband Michael Padilla, their sons: Esequiel and Diego; Damian and Joshua Jenkins; Hunter Greene, his daughter Nina; Jacinta and husband, retired Fire Chief Robert E. Ortega and their children: Bobbi Jo, Gabriella, Simone, Francisco and Santiago; Jacqueline and husband Michael Gurule and their daughters: Desiree, Adrianne, and Bernadette; Matthew Santiago and wife Alexis Johnson, their sons: Jarreau and Tyler Santiago; and Maura and Stacey Blakemore, their children: Jazmine, Miles, and Quincy and his 68 grand, great, and great, great grandchild­ren.

We would like to express our gratitude to his hospice Nurse Ashley and Chaplin David from Ambercare. We also appreciate the support and respect that Gloria, Louis and Helen from Salazar Funeral Homes and Crematory expressed in laying our father to rest.

Juan’s Life Celebratio­n will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM followed by the 10:30 AM Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church located at 1818 Coal Pl SE, Albuquerqu­e New Mexico, 87106. Burial at 12:00 PM will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery located at the1900 Edith Blvd NE Albuquerqu­e, NM 87102. Reception will follow at the Moose Lodge located at 2121 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87102.
