Marilyn Johnston Linker, 93, an Albuquerqu­e resident since 1959, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

She was the daughter of Fred

B. and Dorothy Carruth Johnston of Ft. Morgan, CO. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; brothers, George and Carl; and sister, Jean Dyar. Marilyn loved sharing time with her family and was proud of their many accomplish­ments. She was confident in her faith, a friend to many, and engaged in lifelong learning. She was born during the height of the depression but was fortunate to grow up on a family farm enjoying a happy and peaceful life. Marilyn attended Monmouth College and Colorado A&M where she earned a degree in Economics, Biology and Education. In 1950, she married Harold Linker, her high school sweetheart. They moved to CA after Harold was called to serve in the Coast Guard. After his discharge and completing his education, they moved to Albuquerqu­e where he went to work for Sandia National Laboratori­es. Marilyn completed graduate studies at the University of New Mexico and joined the Albuquerqu­e Public Schools where she worked as a middle school librarian until she retired in 1987. She enjoyed a long retirement that included golf, traveling, church and circles of friends some of whom reside at Montebello Independen­t Living. She is survived by son, Kevin (Linda); daughter, Kimberly; grandsons Trey Thunborg (Brandy); Kyle (Tiffany); Taylor (Jacelyn); granddaugh­ters Kacey and Jenna; and great-grandchild­ren (Ivy, Sig and Kinsley). A special thanks to Enchanted Living of NM and High Desert Hospice who provided care and comfort to Marilyn. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 25th, 2023 2:00 pm at St Paul’s United Methodist Church 9500 Constituti­on NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87112. Interment will take place at a later date in CO.
