Katherine Marie Arnold (nee McFarland)

Kathy McFarland Arnold was born in Eagletown, Oklahoma on Tuesday, December 3, 1935 and moved to New Mexico with her family in the late 1940’s. Kathy graduated from Gallup High School in 1954. Following graduation, Kathy enrolled in University of New Mexico and became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at UNM, where she formed many life-long friendship­s. It was also at UNM that she met, and later married, Paul Arnold in 1957. The beautiful marriage lasted 64 years and is a testimony to their love and commitment to each other and to their families.

After working with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Kathy spent most of her life as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.

Kathy was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Yucca Temple #74 and the Assistance League of Albuquerqu­e. She served as a Cub Scout pack den mother and worked at local election polls for decades.

An avid reader, Kathy also enjoyed playing card and board games with her family and bridge with friends and neighbors. A lifelong learner, Kathy was a dedicated fan of the Jeopardy! game show. She often enjoyed weekend outings with family and friends for decades and developed a love for internatio­nal travel and frequent excursions to Las Vegas with Paul.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, 3:30-5:00 p.m. at FRENCH-University. A Graveside Service will be on Saturday, March 4, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, 87107. with a Celebratio­n of Life to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Ballut Abyad Shriners, 6600 Zuni Rd SE, 87108.

Kathy is survived by her son, Mark (Karen) Arnold of Florida; daughter, Karen (Wayne) Barger of Colorado; grandson, Jason (Jill) Arnold of North Carolina; granddaugh­ter, Courtney Arnold (Julian Llerena) of Texas; grandson, Christophe­r Barger (Sinikka) of Colorado; grandson, Matthew (Trish) Barger of Arizona; two great-grandchild­ren, Brady Barger and Emmett Barger of Colorado.

Kathy passed peacefully in Florida on Sunday, January 29, 2023, after a brief illness.
